It was Wolves' first victory at United's home ground at Old Trafford since 1980. It was United's first defeat under new coach Ralph Rangnik.
In the 82nd minute, Javo Moutinho scored the winning goal for the Wolves. United goalkeeper Dihia's saves prevented the Wolves from creating better chances in the first half.
In the second half, Bruno Fernandes came on and put United's play to life. Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo headed the ball into the net but it went offside.
With the defeat, United finished seventh in the points table. The team has only 31 points from 19 games.
