 LONDON: Defending champions Manchester City are on the verge of an unbeaten run in the English Premier League.

City beat Brentford in the final. But Champions League winners Chelsea were held to a draw.

 City beat Brentford 1-0.  In the 16th minute, youngster Phil Foden scored the winning goal for City.  With this victory, City Point moved far ahead in the table.  City have 50 points from 20 games.  Second-placed Chelsea have just 42 points from as many games.  City have a clear eight-point lead in the title race.

 Relatively weak Brighton held Chelsea to a draw.  Chelsea took the lead in the 28th minute through Romelu Lukaku but Danny Welbeck equalized for Brighton with a goal just minutes before the end of injury time.  The draw was a major setback for Chelsea's title hopes.  With a draw, Brighton are 10th in the points table with 24 points from 18 games.
