Doesn't seem to be the best batsman Joe root in the world: Gavaskar

 Chennai: Former Indian cricketer and cricket observer Sunil Gavaskar has revealed that England captain Joe Root is not currently the best batsman in the world. The actor made this clear during a channel discussion.

'Root is a very good batsman. But I don’t think he is the best batsman currently. Root is one of the four best batsmen in the world. There is no doubt about it. But I only give him fourth place, ”Gavaskar said

According to Gavaskar, India captain Virat Kohli, Australia's Steve Smith and New Zealand captain Kane Williams are more talented than Root.

Root has been showing tremendous batting performance lately. He has scored two double centuries and one century in the last three matches. He scored 218 against Sri Lanka and 186 in the next match.

Root scored 228 in the first Test against India. His batting prowess helped England win the first Test.
