The English Football Association took action against the player on Thursday. A fine of £100,000 was imposed along with the ban. Cavanagh used the Spanish word on Instagram after United 's 3-2 win over Southampton on November 29. The word was used to describe black people in Spanish. With this, action was taken against the star.
But Cavanagh responded that he had used the word "love" between friends in Latin America and did not intend to hurt anyone.
